San Miguel Atlapulco, Mexico
Back to School: Mexico
Program Start: September 2026
Since 2009, AH&H has been rebuilding schools damaged by earthquakes, hurricanes, and floods across Mexico. Our work includes repairing classrooms, bringing in clean drinking water and restrooms (WaSH), building playgrounds, and adding new furniture. We also offer helpful trainings for students, teachers, and neighbors to support and empower the entire school community.

Disaster Profile
17 Years of Rebuilding Disaster-Resilient Schools in Mexico
From the 2017 earthquakes to the flooding from Hurricane Priscilla in 2025, natural disasters have repeatedly damaged schools across Mexico. In San Miguel Atlapulco, these events severely affected four nearby schools that serve local children from kindergarten through high school.
Since 2009, All Hands & Hearts has been rebuilding disaster-damaged schools across Mexico. Today, we are restoring all four schools in San Miguel Atlapulco to keep children safe and learning:
- Albert Einstein Secondary: Safe, earthquake-proof classrooms.
- José María Morelos y Pavón: Clean drinking water and handwashing stations.
- Papalocalli Kindergarten: Bright, safe spaces for young children to play and learn.
- Héroes del 5 de Mayo: An upgraded dining hall for daily meals together.
By March 2027, this project will directly support 477 students and 22 teachers (more than one-third of the town). Together, we are rebuilding schools and strengthening a community for the future.
