A scene of wildfire destruction, only a brick chimney of a home remains standing amongst ash-covered debris

Arriving Early To Meet Urgent Needs

All Hands & Hearts (AH&H) emergency response teams mobilize quickly after disaster strikes to deliver critical support—from food, water and essential goods distribution to debris removal and temporary housing—that helps families stabilize and communities take the first steps toward recovery.

A collapsed house lies in ruins, with broken wood, furniture, and debris scattered across the ground. A man stands among the wreckage, looking down, while damaged belongings and fallen trees surround the area, showing the devastation left behind.

Life Can Change in an Instant

In the first hours and days after a disaster, every moment matters. Without fast action:

  • Families are left exposed without access to food, clean water and safe shelter.
  • Households can’t cover their most urgent needs when cash or vouchers aren’t available.
  • Communities remain cut off as debris and destruction block access to homes and services.
  • Homes become unlivable when muck, mud, and debris aren’t cleared away.
  • Health risks surge as mold and unsanitary conditions spread in damaged spaces.
  • Survivors face worsening trauma with no mental health support to turn to.

Speed Matters, But So Does Relevance

At AH&H, our emergency response is guided by local leaders and families who know their community best. We show up early, listen closely, and act quickly to ensure strong, dignified relief reaches the right people when they need it most.

Access to basic needs and services

We support food, drink water, and hygiene kit distribution, provide temporary housing for displaced families, and connect survivors with mental well-being support to meet urgent needs.

Cash and voucher assistance

Giving families the flexibility to choose what they need most empowers recovery on their own terms.

Debris removal and hazardous tree clearance

By clearing blocked roads, fallen trees and unsafe structures, we restore access and reduce ongoing risks.

Salvaging of personal belongings

We help recover the most important pieces from damaged homes.

Muck and gut operations

Our teams remove waterlogged materials and debris to prevent long-term structural issues.

Mold sanitation

Treating and removing mold from homes helps restore healthy, livable spaces for displaced families.

Volunteer interest coordination

We help to coordinate volunteer energy with urgent community needs.

Faces of Impact

Mariana

An All Hands and Hearts staff member hands Mariana a package of essential goods to support her recovery post-hurricane

With essential needs met after a devastating hurricane passed, Mariana could focus on rebuilding her home.

When the storm hit, Mariana had no time to gather belongings; her roof tore off, and everything inside was soaked. For days, she dried her clothes by hand. AH&H provided essential aid kits in the critical days after, reminding her she wasn’t alone in her recovery.

Harrison

After his home was destroyed by flooding, Harrison found hope again as we worked side by side to rebuild.

Harrison’s home took on more than four feet of floodwater, with the basement completely submerged and 12 feet of standing water filling the yard. In just hours, nearly everything he owned was destroyed. When AH&H teams arrived, we worked side by side with Harrison to clear debris, gut waterlogged walls, and salvage what we could.

Tulay

Tulay, passing a plate of food in Kahramanmaraş, Turkiye at the camp AH&H helped improved after the devastating earthquake displaced her community

Tulay could stay in a comfortable temporary displacement camp while waiting to return home.

After the earthquake devastated Tulay’s community in Kahramanmaraş, her family was left displaced with no home to return to. While they waited, AH&H helped create safer, more livable spaces, building community centers, improving camps, and providing playgrounds for children to play, connect and heal.
