Our Response
AH&H Responding After Massive Nepal Flash Flood and Mudslides
All Hands & Hearts is responding to devastating floods and mudslides that have torn through Nuwakot, Nepal, killing hundreds and leaving over a thousand people missing. The water and mudslides destroyed entire regions all along the river’s path, completely shattering infrastructure, roads, and bridges.

Since 2015, our team has worked alongside communities in Nepal, helping rebuild schools and strengthen the places families call home. Now, that same team is providing emergency relief in this unfolding crisis.
Our school communities are safe and accounted for. At the start of the response, our teams on the ground supported displaced families, provided supplies for the respectful care of the deceased, and distributed generators and power equipment to rescuers to help search for survivors and reach isolated villages. Now, our teams in Nepal are out every day, helping displaced families with essential food, safe drinking water, cooking supplies, hygiene and cleaning products, medical and sanitation supplies, and power equipment. We have also begun longer-term support, installing water systems and constructing temporary classrooms as we prepare to help these communities rebuild.
What We Are Doing Now
To address critical water shortages, we have moved from emergency water jugs to establishing drinking-water stations, utility water systems, storage tanks, and filtration systems, while also constructing shower facilities to improve longer-term hygiene and sanitation. Continued deliveries across displacement centers are helping create safer, more dignified living conditions while supporting families through both immediate needs and the longer-term recovery process.

Schools are at the heart of strong communities. In Nuwakot, more than 300 classrooms have been destroyed or damaged, and undamaged schools are now sheltering displaced families. Getting children back to school is not the final step of recovery. It is one of the things that makes recovery possible.
So far, students have received learning kits, early childhood development toys, educational games, and slippers. Our team disinfected 70 classrooms at eight schools, preparing space for more than 1,000 students and 200 staff to return. At Chandeswory School, we’re building a secure fence to keep children away from unstable ground along the riverbank. When floodwaters swept away Tribhuvan Trishuli Secondary School, we set up temporary space to keep learning going. Staff, masons, and volunteers are building three temporary classrooms on two truss structures, with plumbing, electrical systems, and toilet facilities.

This situation is moving fast. We will share updates as we learn more on our social media channels and website as our team works to understand what’s needed most.
Right now, your support can help us move quickly to provide emergency relief to families who have lost everything. Every gift helps our team respond faster to families in Nuwakot and across Nepal.
Our Response
AH&H is Rebuilding 20 Schools in Nepal

The devastating floods in Nepal have destroyed or damaged over 300 classrooms, leaving thousands of children without a place to learn. As communities move from emergency response toward recovery, we will continue addressing their most urgent needs and helping them rebuild safely. Having served in Nepal since 2015, All Hands & Hearts is launching the Back to School Capital Campaign. Over the next two years, we aim to raise $5 million to rebuild 20 schools in communities that need them most, building on our years of work in Nepal and helping create safer, stronger places for children and families to rebuild their lives.
All Hands & Hearts will match the first $300,000 in donations in light of our Back to School Campaign.
