Recovery in Action: Final Report From our Hurricane Erick Response in Oaxaca

When Hurricane Erick struck the coast of Oaxaca, families across the region were left without basic necessities like clean water and shelter. In the weeks that followed, our AH&H team worked alongside local communities to meet urgent needs and help lay the groundwork for long-term recovery.

When Hurricane Erick struck the coast of Oaxaca, families across the region were left without basic necessities like clean water and shelter. In the weeks that followed, our AH&H team worked alongside local communities to meet urgent needs and help lay the groundwork for long-term recovery.

Together, we reached 16 communities and supported more than 2,500 people with clean water, tarps to repair damaged roofs, and other essential supplies. One of the most meaningful parts of this response was the rebuilding of the La Noria water distribution center, which provides safe drinking water to more than 150 families and neighboring communities. With the installation of 24 solar panels, this system will now operate sustainably, ensuring reliable access to clean water for years to come.

When disaster strikes, our commitment remains the same: to stand with communities, respond quickly, restore vital resources, and help rebuild stronger.
