All Hands & Hearts On the Ground in Nuwokot Within 24 Hours of Devastating Floods and Mudslides in Nepal

All Hands & Hearts is on the ground in Nuwakot, Nepal, coordinating directly with government authorities after floods and mudslides tore through the district, killing hundreds and leaving more than a thousand people still missing. The water and mud destroyed entire communities along the river’s path, shattering roads, bridges, and infrastructure across the region.

Access to the hardest-hit areas is currently limited to helicopters, and the army is focused on search and rescue alongside distribution of emergency supplies. Our team is visiting holding centers currently sheltering around 200 displaced families, working with authorities to identify what’s needed most and where.

A Long-Standing Connection to These Communities

All Hands & Hearts has worked alongside communities in Nepal since the 2015 earthquake, helping rebuild schools and strengthen the places families call home, including schools we rebuilt in Nuwakot itself. That history means we know these communities well. Thankfully, the schools we rebuilt are still standing, but many of the surrounding villages have been devastated.

That same team, built over a decade of work in Nepal, is now mobilized and preparing to deploy emergency relief as this crisis unfolds. We’ll scale up our presence on the ground as safety and access allow. Right now, in these early hours, both remain difficult.

The Situation Is Moving Fast

This is an evolving crisis, and our team is working in real time to understand what’s needed most as access allows. We’ll share updates here and across our social channels as the picture becomes clearer.
