First AH&H aid convoys arrive in Gaza–much more on the way

A message from our CEO, Nate Mook.

Dear All Hands & Hearts Family,

This week, All Hands & Hearts (AH&H) delivered two convoys of much-needed aid and supplies into Gaza. We are now scaling up our deliveries to support the humanitarian surge efforts following Friday’s ceasefire. This is just the start.

We have hundreds more trucks coming, and are working closely with a network of NGO partners on the ground to ensure this aid reaches the most vulnerable, especially children. At the moment, we are prioritizing: child nutrition packs, fresh vegetables, hygiene kits, medicine for clinics and hospitals, and shelter supplies, including tents and tarps.

Over the past 6 months, AH&H has been working closely with a number of partner organizations to develop a logistics mechanism that streamlines and accelerates humanitarian aid access into Gaza, while ensuring it reaches the intended recipients. This effort is complementary to the United Nations, and we are working collaboratively with UN agencies such as WFP, UNICEF, OCHA and UNOPS. We are also working with Cyprus to bring aid by sea.

I have visited Gaza and saw firsthand the needs on the ground. This is an all-hands-on-deck moment, and it will take all of us working together — along with your help.

In the days and weeks ahead, AH&H will support the provision of hygiene kits (consisting of soaps, shampoos, menstrual hygiene products, dental products), warm clothes/heating elements, supplements for malnourished kids, and learning materials for children (books, art materials) and other supplies that promote dignity, normalcy and stability for communities—in addition to being essential humanitarian aid that helps prevent diseases, protects against the coming winter, and supports children and infants.

We are directly procuring fresh fruits, vegetables, and protein sources such as lentils, cheese, and milk. While overall food supplies in Gaza have improved in recent months, these items remain in very short supply and are urgently needed to help prevent malnutrition and restore the health of children, as well as pregnant and lactating women.

As a signatory to the Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS), AH&H is committed to working in line with humanitarian principles of neutrality and impartiality, serving the civilian population of Gaza first and foremost in an ethical manner.

While there is an urgent need to stabilize the emergency situation, AH&H is also developing ‘humanitarian plus’ programs specifically targeted at women and children, particularly orphans and vulnerable children, at the community level. Humanitarian plus programming includes initiatives such as temporary learning for children, psychosocial support, livelihood assistance for women, community health and health extension services, small-scale vegetable gardening, as well as shelter materials and repairs.

There is a long and uncertain road ahead, but we remain committed to assisting the people of Gaza as peace takes hold. We will have more to share soon.

Thank you for being part of the AH&H community and for your continued support.

Nate Mook
