Bringing “Classrooms in a Box” to 24,000 Children in Gaza!

To support children facing disruption to their education, AH&H delivered 100 “Classroom in a Box” supply kits to 31 community schools in Gaza, supporting learning for nearly 24,000 students. Beyond equipping teachers and students for the new school year, AH&H continues delivering emergency relief support such as medical supplies, shelter tarps, and meals.

Over the last few weeks, something truly special happened in Gaza…

Amid so much uncertainty and loss, thousands of children walked into temporary classrooms, opened brand-new notebooks, and picked up fresh pencils to start the new school year.

In collaboration with our partners, the AH&H Gaza team delivered 100 “Classroom in a Box” kits directly to 31 local, community-run learning centers across Gaza City, the Middle Area, and Khan Younis. Together, we are reaching nearly 24,000 children right on time for the new school year!

Packed with essential supplies for students and teachers such as notebooks, crayons, pens, erasers, sharpeners, pencils, scissors, rulers, markers, whiteboards, math and language charts, these kits give teachers the tools to teach and provide children continued learning amidst the ongoing conflict.

Nearly 700,000 children in Gaza are out of school and lack access to education, making them vulnerable to physical dangers and gang and terrorist recruiters. Schools supplies not only help teachers teach, they  keep children engaged in schools and off the streets.

What we achieved together this Back to School season:
  • 100 Classroom in a Box kits delivered
  • 31 community-led, non-profit schools supplied
  • 23,738 children given a safe space to learn
  • 3 months of essential supplies per classroom

This is an important first step, but the journey ahead is long. As we look forward, our hope is to expand this support, providing hot meals, teacher stipends, trauma relief through sports and art, and basic repairs to toilets and water taps so these spaces remain safe and dignified.

Our broader work in Gaza continues:

In addition to supporting children’s education, we continue to deliver aid where it is needed most. Our teams on the ground are providing heavy-duty tarps to shelter displaced families, delivering vital medicines and vitamins to hospitals, and supporting local community kitchens.

With fall around the corner and winter fast approaching, dropping temperatures and heavy rains make (already hard) living conditions far worse. Please consider making a gift today to support the families in Gaza who need it most.
