1,500 Meals a Day: Supporting Pereira’s Community-Led Kitchens After the Earthquake

Following the August 10 earthquake in Colombia, local organizations in Pereira stepped up to cook 1,500 daily meals across five community kitchens. All Hands & Hearts is backing this local response by providing essential food ingredients, ensuring these vital community-led spaces have the resources to keep feeding their neighbors every single day.

Across five locations in Pereira, one can always find a hot plate of food and a warm welcome.

With music in the background, keeping good spirits in the midst of a crisis, vegetables are prepared, large pots are filled, and meals are cooked for entire communities. Together, these five community kitchens are preparing approximately 1,500 meals every day, and All Hands & Hearts helps provide the ingredients.

Supporting a system already in place:

Working with El Solar Pereira, Corporación Abuara, El Mensajero de Semillas and Territorios de Paz, our team is supporting community led kitchens serving people affected by the Colombia earthquake.

Local organizations and community members have the people, kitchens and networks needed to prepare and distribute meals. All Hands & Hearts helps supply the food that keeps those kitchens operating, communities themselves are doing the rest.
