Severe flooding across the Four Corners region has left communities facing significant damage and disruption. Roads remain closed, while floodwaters have risen so high that they have entered homes and, in some cases, completely submerged vehicles.
Following initial assessments and coordination with local emergency management and community partners, significant needs have been identified across several affected areas, including underserved tribal communities.
Priorities include distributing essential winter supplies such as firewood, blankets, warm clothing, heating equipment, and household items. There is also an urgent need for dehumidifiers and industrial fans to prevent mold growth in flood-damaged homes. Access to some remote areas remains difficult due to heavy mud and washed-out roads. Additionally, because building materials produced prior to federal restrictions in the late 1970s frequently contained toxic fibers, homes constructed before the 1980s require asbestos testing before demolition, gutting, or major structural repairs can safely begin.

The next phase of the response will focus on scaling up operational capacity and mobilizing additional volunteers to support debris removal, mud and damaged-material clearance, distribution of relief supplies and cleanup kits, and assistance with cash vouchers and emergency housing. Coordination with local leaders and community organizations will remain essential to identify the most affected households, address gaps in relief, and ensure support reaches those who need it most.
