India Landslides

Heavy rainfall over the past few days amid the ongoing monsoon season triggered multiple landslides in mountainous areas near Meppadi, India. As of August 2, authorities have confirmed at least 330 fatalities, more than 200 people injured and around 300 others remain missing. Hundreds of buildings have been damaged and around 9,000 people in the region have been moved to relief camps following the landslides. Multiple villages have been cut off, leaving several hundred stranded.
