At least six deaths have been reported in the wake of the violent tornado outbreak, with four of those reported in Tennessee. The latest confirmed deaths bring the total to six across the region, including earlier fatalities in McNairy and Obion counties in Tennessee and Cape Girardeau County, Missouri.
Severe weather struck overnight, with dangerous nocturnal tornadoes reported across multiple states. In Missouri, one fatality has been confirmed, while Tennessee has reported three fatalities as suspected tornadoes impacted McNairy, Obion and Fayette counties. This devastation comes as parts of the central United States brace for extreme rainfall, with up to four months’ worth of rain expected to fall in less than a week—posing a significant risk of major flooding and further endangering lives and property.
