Amidst winter power outages in Ukraine, our Invincibility Train Cars are serving thousands of people

As attacks continue on critical power infrastructure, mobile, self-powered Invincibility Train Cars are bringing warmth, electricity, and internet connectivity to Ukrainian communities facing winter power outages and freezing temperatures.

Nearly every night, the people of Ukraine are enduring attacks on their power centers, energy storage facilities and other critical infrastructure. It is an almost uninhabitable situation for residents living without electricity and heat in their homes, while temperatures plummet to -20 degrees.

This is where the Invincibility Train Cars come in: mobile, self-powered hubs with electricity and internet connectivity. In response to the escalating attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure, All Hands & Hearts partnered with Ukrainian Railways, World Central Kitchen, White Stork, and Hachiko Foundation to provide this unique form of relief: a warm place to recharge, literally, physically and mentally.

The Invincibility Train Cars have been up and running for over two weeks now, and are already creating a community of individuals, families, and their pets, seeking refuge from the cold. Thousands of people have come to benefit from electricity, internet connection, warmth, and games, while they may have access to none of these at home.

People of all ages have come every day to charge their electronic devices and connect to the internet with Starlink connectivity, while playing games with their kids and connecting with loved ones, as well as making new friends in the same situation. There are even pet-friendly compartments, where animals can benefit from the warmth and companionship, too.

The engagement we’re already seeing is encouraging, knowing that we’re filling a critical gap while the country is surviving attacks through the winter.
