Alongside local partners, we have distributed 20,000 emergency shelter solutions, helping families access safer living conditions. That work continues to grow, with five trucks carrying emergency tents and tarps arriving in Gaza. Distributions and installations are taking place across northern and southern communities as shelter support continues to expand.

Assessing Shelter Needs & Listening to Families
Before a tent is installed, our teams spend time meeting with families and assessing living conditions across displacement sites. These visits help identify households whose shelters have deteriorated over time or no longer provide adequate protection from the heat and harsh conditions.
One of those visits brought us to Mr. Faraj and his wife. Their makeshift shelter had become increasingly difficult to live in. Our team installed a new emergency tent, providing them with a safer place to live.
“The old shelter had become very difficult to live in. There were insects, the heat was overwhelming, and it no longer protected us. This new tent has made a real difference for us,” Mr. Faraj said.
Fairness takes fieldwork. Before a single tent went up, six social workers assessed 1,052 nominated families in seven days, so every tent went to a family with the greatest need.

Community-Led Recovery
As shelter materials arrived, the response quickly became a community effort. Neighbors, young people, and children joined our team to unload trucks, carry materials, and help assemble emergency shelters for families.
Throughout the installations, children could be heard calling to one another, “Come on to the new tent!” a reflection of the sense of solidarity present throughout the day.
Every shelter installation begins with listening. By working alongside families and communities to understand their needs, we’re helping deliver practical shelter solutions that support community-led recovery.
Looking Ahead
While emergency shelters are temporary, they provide families with greater protection from the elements, increased privacy, and a safer place to live while displacement continues.
All Hands & Hearts will continue expanding shelter and housing support across Gaza through the distribution and installation of additional tents, tarps, and other temporary shelter solutions, working alongside local partners to help meet one of the region’s most urgent humanitarian needs.
