A series of intense wildfires erupted across regions of New Mexico on Monday, causing widespread devastation. The South Fork Fire and Salt Fire, which ignited on the Mescalero Apache Reservation, have scorched over 16,600 acres as of Wednesday afternoon. Over 1,400 structures, including homes, have been destroyed. The mountain village of Ruidoso and surrounding areas remain under evacuation orders, and at least two fatalities have been confirmed. Currently, there is no containment of the fires, and the cause remains unknown.
