The already waterlogged state is expected to have another powerful Pacific storm pass through starting today until Friday. Parts of the state are expected to receive one to three inches of snow, high winds, and rapid flooding.
Late Monday night, Southern California was hit by another strong storm bringing heavy rain and mountain snow. The storm is expected to last into Wednesday and communities are preparing for major flooding.
With another atmospheric river expected this week, preparations are underway to brace for the additional damage it may bring.
Despite the light rain in the forecast for this weekend, recessions on area rivers and streams are expected to continue. As of March 17, there are five reported fatalities related to the storm.
Rain is expected to subside through Friday which will provide some relief to areas that have been hit by the recent atmospheric river storm and heavy rain. While light rainfall is expected over the weekend, it is not expected to produce any new flood impacts.
Mandatory evacuation orders are in place for 28,000 residents as a result of the heavy and sustained rainfall in California. There have also been three fatalities reported related to the storm.
The risk for further flooding continues in California as more rain is expected. Wind gusts of over 60 mph are also possible in some regions.
