Update 1
A slow moving, low pressure system named Storm Boris has dumped about three months’ worth of rain over just a few days onto parts of central and eastern Europe, including historic capitals such as Vienna, Bratislava and Prague. Tens of thousands of people have been evacuated as the heavy rainfall has caused rivers to overflow and several bridges and dams to show damage. Poland has declared a state of natural disaster to free up EU resources to respond to the floods. Five people have died in Romania, one person in Poland and one firefighter in Austria.
We use information from reputable sources like the National Hurricane Center to make informed decisions regarding our responses to storms around the world.
