Venezuela: Three Months After the Earthquakes & We’re Still Here

Three months after earthquakes devastated Venezuela, AH&H is still on the ground delivering clean water, building sanitation facilities, and equipping search-and-rescue teams. As families rebuild from emergency shelters, we remain committed to their long-term recovery.

Nearly three months after the earthquakes hit Venezuela, the damage is still being cleared, and many families are still living in emergency shelters. Our teams remain on the ground, working side by side with local leaders to get help where it’s needed most.

Clean water remains one of the region’s biggest challenges. We continue to distribute water storage tanks and household filters to help families access safe drinking water every day. At El Campito, a former baseball field now home to hundreds of survivors, we built shower blocks, and we’ve installed communal laundry facilities in other hard-hit parts of La Guaira. 

We delivered a generator and other critical equipment to the Topos Aztecas as they continue to search for bodies in the Venezuela earthquake rubble.

We’re also continuing to equip volunteers like the Topos Aztecas from Mexico with the heavy-duty tools they need to clear rubble and search for bodies of those still missing in Venezuela. To support their operations, we set up a large generator and provided lamps, large and small tarps, mosquito nets, hygiene kits, water filters, soap, and boxes of trash bags.

Venezuela’s recovery is just beginning, and we’re committed to staying for the long haul.
