Children’s Kits Bring Comfort to Venezuela’s Youngest Earthquake Survivors

In the aftermath of the Venezuela earthquakes, All Hands & Hearts is delivering Children’s Kits, boxes packed with art supplies, toys, and games designed to help children begin processing trauma and finding their footing again, to schools and community shelters in the hardest-hit regions.

Comfort matters after disaster. For children in particular, having something familiar to hold onto, whether it’s a toy, a coloring book, or a game to play with friends, can be the difference between staying in fear and starting to heal. These Children’s Kits create a safe space where children can express their feelings, play the way kids are meant to, and take the first steps toward recovery.

A Community Center Transformed by Loss

Nowhere is this need more visible than at the Alborada Youth Association in Caraballeda. Before the earthquakes, the center served 110 students. Half of them lost their lives in the disaster, and the building itself sustained severe structural damage.

And yet, the center remains standing as a vital space for the community, still serving local children from preschool through sixth grade who have nowhere else to go for the routine, structure, and connection they need right now.

All Hands & Hearts delivered Children’s Kits filled with toys, games, and crafting materials to Alborada, giving these kids tools to cope with what they’ve experienced and a small but meaningful sense of normalcy during an incredibly difficult time.

“A busy kid is a kid who is not going to have negative thoughts. A busy mind is a mind that will get better day by day.”

Director of the Alborada Youth Association in Caraballeda

As we continue our response in La Guaira, Caraballeda, and surrounding communities, delivering Children’s Kits remains one of the most direct ways to reach kids where they are and help them begin to process what they’ve been through.
