As winter temperatures drop and continued attacks strain Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, millions of people are facing prolonged power and heating outages. At All Hands and Hearts (AH&H), we know that in moments like these, communities can’t focus on long-term rebuilding. They need immediate, practical support to stay safe, warm and connected to their loved ones, and the rest of the world.
AH&H is proud to be a key partner in the launch of 100 “Invincibility Train Cars”. These are mobile, self-powered warming hubs created in partnership with Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways), World Central Kitchen, White Stork, and the Hachiko Foundation. Together, we’re helping ensure that families across Ukraine have access to warmth, electricity and connection during ongoing outages caused by the war.

Meeting People Where the Need Is Greatest
The Invincibility Train Cars are designed to move, which is a critical advantage in an unpredictable and evolving crisis. Using railcars from Ukrzaliznytsia’s non-operational fleet, these spaces have been transformed into fully autonomous support hubs that can be deployed at the request of local authorities wherever outages are most severe.
Each train car is equipped with:
- Full heating systems to maintain safe, comfortable temperatures in extreme winter conditions
- Charging stations powered by generators and portable power sources
- Microwave ovens and refrigerators for food storage and reheating
- Starlink connectivity, ensuring people can stay informed and connected
For AH&H, this approach reflects our commitment to fast, flexible response, where we adapt resources to meet urgent needs as they arise.

Restoring Dignity During Disruption
AH&H’s involvement in the initiative is driven by our commitment to fast action in reclaiming dignity and a sense of normalcy during an immediate crisis. These train cars are places where families can pause somewhere safe, warm up, and regain a measure of stability, even if only temporarily.
“Thanks to the ‘Invincibility Train Cars,’ Ukrainian families will have another place where they are guaranteed warmth, a designated children’s area, and the ability to recharge and stay connected,” said Nate Mook, our CEO. “As attacks on the energy system continue, providing spaces like these is critical to helping communities get through the winter.”

Each train car includes a dedicated children’s compartment, complete with games, books, educational materials, and a cartoon viewing area, giving young people a safe space to play and rest amid ongoing uncertainty. In partnership with the Hachiko Foundation, select train cars also include pet-friendly compartments so families don’t have to choose between warmth and staying with their animals.
Standing With Ukraine Through Winter
Each of the 100 Invincibility Train Cars can be deployed quickly and remain fully autonomous, ensuring support reaches communities even when local infrastructure fails. For AH&H, this work is part of our ongoing commitment to Ukraine, where we are carrying forward the support we provided on the ground to refugee and internally displaced communities, as our response adapts to changing needs.
As winter continues, these train cars promise to bring relief, even in the darkest and coldest conditions.
