Laura Winthrop

Just a few days after the March 11, 2011 earthquake, Laura was introduced to David Campbell and Marc Young and began helping All Hands and Hearts establish a project in Japan to provide relief to communities that had been tsunami-ravaged in Iwate Prefecture.
Laura is currently working at the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo on a Council on Foreign Relations fellowship, and is assisting the U.S. Ambassador with public-private partnerships and NGO coordination related to relief and recovery efforts.
Prior to this, Laura was a Professional Staff Member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations – where she covered issues related to international development, the United Nations, and the Peace Corps. Previously, Laura worked in risk management consulting for companies operating in complex international environments, in foreign policy think tanks, and on political campaigns.
She holds a Master’s degree in International Relations from Cambridge University and a Bachelor’s degree in History from Harvard University, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude.
