Helicopters of aid have arrived in Jamaica, and more across the island

Our team, working with local partners and a Disaster Arborist Response Team, is delivering food, water and essential supplies to isolated communities in Western Jamaica while clearing debris and reopening access roads.

Many communities in Western Jamaica have remained isolated since Hurricane Melissa, with landslides and debris blocking roads and cutting off access.

This week, our team successfully reached some of the hardest-hit regions, delivering life-saving essentials to families who’ve gone without basic supplies since the end of October.

Delivering Aid in Westmoreland

Reaching these areas wasn’t easy. Our staff flew by helicopter into hard-to-reach communities in Westmoreland Parish, delivering food buckets and water that will meet the immediate needs of 180 families, in an all-hands coordination with the local community, partners and the U.S. military. For many residents, these deliveries were the first access to essentials since the storm hit.

Tree and Debris Removal

Beyond the supplies distribution, our recovery work continues on the ground. Our team is working alongside the Disaster Arborist Response Team at New Hope Church, a community living space in Morivan, Jamaica. Together, we’re clearing trees and debris left behind by the hurricane, reopening roads so trucks delivering food, water and other relief supplies can safely enter the local community.

We continue to coordinate with our local partner, BREDS Foundation, to bring more food and water deliveries to Treasure Beach, while providing Starlink connectivity where power hasn’t been restored.
